Default Northern Gannet Across the Stern

I took this shot when out Mackerel fishing yesterday. I've got a dedicated pelagic out of the same port on Saturday and another out of Long Island on Sunday. These should provide much better photo opportunities and I'm hoping to work on these guys more. I'm still trying to learn how to work with whites in sunshine, so any tips, techniques, and comments would be appreciated before I take another swing at them. Thanks.

I think it looks fine as it is and when checking for blown whites in Photoshop I cannot find any. If you still want some tips on handling blown whites you can check out Jules post in my thread with a Whooper Swan.

Sharpness and expo looks good as well as head angle (maybe the head would have been even better if it had been just a touch more towards the viewer),

In short I really like the image.

Paul, I think you did a great job with the whites. Very nice work.

Great image and pose. Beautiful Gannet. Real nice detail in the eye, bill, underwing, and belly.
The histogram looks good on the whites, but you might want to tone down the white on the far wing just a tad.

Good positon of the bird in the frame, sharpness is good, wing position is very good. I like it.
