    I'd like your critique of this image. I realize BAA strives to have birds portrayed against neutral backgrounds, but I rather like the action of the bird and the incoming wave - foam and all. What do you think? (I realize the eye is a bit soft).

    I didn't take time to look up the stats on this image other than:

    Canon 40D
    Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS handheld
    ISO 200

    Hi Roger, ocean backgrounds are fine if you are careful with waiting for the waves not to bisect the birds. Actually the problem I see here is the infamous head angle, where the head is facing away from you rather than angled you way.
    Well exposed and well placed.
