This Green Heron was locked and loaded at Ding Darling NWR, and grabbed a fish right after this photo. (I was too slow to capture the capture. :o ) The heron was hunting in a dark recessed area. Didn't have my flash, so I used some PP vignetting to effectively shine some light on this bird. Used a round of Topaz Clean (cartoon style) to enhance feather detail and bumped the sat just a bit.

Great pose, Keith!! I love the details and the almost metallic look of the image. The square crop works well in this case. I might tone down a few of the bright spots on the branch just a little. Very nicely done!

Hi Keith, awesome pose, too bad you missed the fish capture. Love the details in the bird too. I see a couple of straight lines in the background to the right of the bird and below the branch - caused by post production maybe?

Awesome work in pp, Keith! I'd look at smoothing out the colors in the BG water so it doesn't appear so blotchy - I think that would further enhance the viewer's attention on that beautiful bird.

Great pose, and I really love the feathers on the back! I that noise on the neck?

Great pose Keith and I like the details that Clean enhanced, I agree w/ Patrick it looks like noise on the neck but I'll bet it's the filtering. I just love the extended neck and the intense stare.

    Keith,

Greetings. I like the look... I'm guessing it is the Topaz Clean part, the feather detailing? I particularly like the color palette. Good show!

    Cheers,
