    Willem,

Good looking bird, nice detail and sharpness captured.

I would recommended cropping this somewhat tighter in front and top. Always a problem with dark BGs, dark bills get lost. You could make a selection of the BG and lighten it up somewhat.

Loved the sharpness, light and pose here. Orange color is standing out really well due to the BG. well done.

Another lovely capture Willem. Robert has a good suggestion re: lightening the bg to separate the beak a bit. I like the chosen comp but also see where Robert is coming from. I think by going close to a square crop you put the eye in the upper left power point getting rid of the empty space. Well done.

For me I like the image comp as presented - but Robert's suggestion would work too. I would clone out the spot on the perch in LRC. I like the dark BG and would not lighten it. A little thing I like to do with dark bill on dark BG is to lightly dodge some of the contour of the bill...here it would be the top edge...it is subtle but makes a difference.

Willem, look at the top edge of the bill on the repost. A very subtle difference but it does make it stand out from the BG more.

I just used the dodge tool (soft brush, range set to midtones, and opacity at 8%). Work at high magnification (so the bill is the only thing you see) and select a very small brush size to paint just the very the top of the bill to lighten it a bit. Hope this is easy to follow...
