You are right some are not beautiful. However very good color and detail. Exposure appears proper. For this picture to really work need better eye contact which may not be feasible. But still an interesting image

those are strange, strange birds. that normal looking bill peeking out under those strange blue and red, hairy wattles is surreal. I wonder if you lightend and saturated the eyes just a little, if you would get more of a sense of eye contact - did you by any chance get a closeup from the side? would love to see that too. really interesting picture!

    Thank You Pat,
I will try exactly what you suggest on the eyes! and yes i do have a close-up,side view.
I will post it tonight.(this is my first picture post here, and will wait the suggested 24 hr.)
Though it's not the same bird, but same time and gaggle....just a younger bird

Clyde, one thing to mention, here...it's okay to repost an your opening post and even to show the original to do a comparison but we need to limit the number of additional images to one per post in the future. If you have supplementary photos, you are welcome to post them in their own thread at the appropriate time limit. (Don't consider this a hand slap - just wanted to remind everyone that it's one image per thread and one thread every 24/48 hours. I know we get excited but we need to keep the rules and guidelines in mind!)

On your opening post, I am wondering if the bird really has that much blue tint to it? Also, your eyes are a bit underexposed because of the brightness of the head and BG. I wonder if maybe some fill flash or a side head turn wouldn't have shown the bird off better. You are right, though...it is one UGLY bird!!!
