This is another frame from the Kestrel shot posted earlier I cloned out some sticks. This one was a cleaner shot as the tail was in the total clear. I hope you like it.

I like it :) I would consider boosting the catch light in the eye.

    Great capture James

Awesome capture! Tack sharp and great pose. Composition is very nice. The bird really stands out against the background. Minor nit - the talons look a little hot to me.

Absolutely outstanding, love the pose and the colours. I too have slight reservations over the feet and legs being just a little hot, but that is a cracking image!

A fine in flight Jim. Great clarity, angle and nice 3D look to it. The leg area could possibly use some burning on the whites, like suggested.

Fabulous capture, Jim! I agree on the legs, but your capture really doesn't get any better than this! Congratulations!

Killer X2. Was this from the same landing or was the bird just landing in the same spot repeatedly?

Do you go anything to attract them into range or are you just raptor knowledgeable, raptor fixated, and a bit raptor lucky?

James, I like the angled approach, together with the the soft light and colours. Well captured.

Killer pose and light James! I'm not the biggest fan of the twigs.....even though I agree they do give a landing spot.......might be just because the kestral pose is so great!:D

My wife had some choice words (complimentary, but not for family viewing) when I showed her your Cassin's shot. When I show her this, it's going to be worse. American Kestrel is THE bird that put her over the edge and into birding forever. Stunning work.

Outstanding image! Fanned tail puts this one way over the top for me!

I'm seeing a bit of a green cast.

    Thanks for comments everyone...

Artie this was the frame just before the last one posted.I guess I do study the birds in the area I shoot they are creatures of habit and will take the same perch over and over again if the bird is cooperative (on his own terms nothing was done to attract it) Some days are just lucky days:)
