Hi Ken, colours look spot on, and trying to work out if he's just landed, or pre take off. I like how he is leaning forward, and against a colourful OOF BG. I would maybe run some NR on the BG.

Oh what a fantastic image Ken, really sharp with great detail. The wing position is also a big plus and like the eye contact. The only thing that would improve this is giving it bit more space at the bottom TFS

superb image Ken, I would suggest iso 400, for a cleaner image.

Ken, really nice image. I love that BG. I'm not sure how much difference you'll see between ISO 400 and 800 on the Mark IV, but I definitely agree with Ray that ISO 400 and 1/4000 would have been a reasonable option to consider.

    Cheers,

Very unusual pose. Interesting perch as well - wondering it is about to crack! Agree that BG could use some noise reduction, but it's still perfectly fine as is.

"Set up for flight, got a perch." I'm betting that was the case here. I too would like to see what another round of NR would do.

WOW give that man a cigar!! What a stunning image - I love it and am sure it would make a truly exceptional print. On screen there does appear to be a little noise but oh boy is that a fantastic image. An absolute corker - love it!!

Thanks to every body for your kind and useful comments

    Stuart,

    I forgot the NR

    Raymond/Greg

I find that ISO 800 is largely OK for noise that can be easily handled, I prefer to have a higher shutter speed as I am hand-holding, and you never know if a take off is imminent.

    Charles

These reeds are pretty sturdy and it is a small bird

    Jim

Strangely enough it did not take off

Here is a repost with NR applied to BG
