    This image breaks one of the rules but I like it anyway since I thought the trail of water made from the long billed made it interesting enough to over come the lack of eye contact.
    40D, 500 f/4, 1/1600 at f/7.1, Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metered + 1/3, ISO 400, Raw, Tripod, Cropped

    Don:

    I think it is a very interesting pose, showing the common situation where preening birds do close their eyes, almost as if content.

    Sharp and well exposed. I might be tempted to crop down from the top and a little from the right.

    The one drop on the right really is intriguing, and adds interest. I found myself going back to it several times.

    Don, I might take a little off the top if it were mine. I like the timid preening pose and the water drop is a very nice touch!
