Went in tight for this ram and then cropped in a bit tighter. See what you think.
D300, 400 2.8 w/2x tc, 1/4000, f5.6, iso400, man exp.
Thanks for looking, comments and critiques appreciated.

I love these kind of images. So much detail to study and a uniquely great perspective. Good exposure and sharpness but I suspect I'd have placed the eye more to the left. Congrats. JR
That looks great! Great detail and texture, makes a good comp. Agree on moving eye to left a bit.
Like your thinking behind this one Todd, having say another inch 'or so' on the RHS would really help. Nice detail & colour. Might be worth posting the actual image FF as this might offer some more cropping suggestions which would take out the guessing. :)

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
I like the idea here and agree with Steve, post the full frame one so we can comment on cropping.
I am confused by 1/4000 at f/5.6? IMO more DOF was needed here to get as much as possible sharp.
I feel 1/500 @ f/16 would have been closer to what you want.
Todd - I like this and your thinking to get it in the field, great detail. I agree with the others though that I'd like to see the eye more to the left.

I like these type of images.. This is well done only small nit from me is the eye seems a bit close to the edge of the frame but I'm not sure of what else you could have done. Well done Todd....
Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's a file from a couple winters back but IIRC I have a bit more room especially to the front of ram, I'll have to find the original.
Robert: I was shooting a couple of rams at this spot and was wide open for isolation from bg when this guy came in close making me continually back up (those pesky rules and rangers @ YNP you know) hence the techs.

I like this a lot Todd...good exposure throughout...I do hear what Robert is saying regarding DOF
I'd also like to see the FF :)
Todd,
I tried a similar comp in the past with big horns and never came close to your comp. Really like this composition.
Very well done.
Thanks Morkel and Sid, much appreciated. Will try to remember to look up the original :o
