    finally I obtained a closeup image of a male Bufflehead. Taken with a Nikon D3s %00 f4 and a TC 1.7 on tripod and Mongoose. ASA 400 1/500 @f6.7

    Hi Myer,

The tan BG reflection in the water is killer but the duck is lacking detail - almost looks like too much noise reduction was applied. The face is looking particularly funky. I see a gray line between the white and green.

    Myer,

Color and exposure are beautiful, but unfortunately the details are gone on my monitor - looks like maybe it was oversharpened, then too much noise reduction applied (halo can be seen). Was the original shot sharp? Wondering if something happened during your post-processing.

Finally, a minor nit - the bird appears to be heading away from the camera. Since the HA looks OK, I'm thinking you might be able to correct this with a slight CCW rotation.

    thanks
    Charles

Angle and crop definitely better in the repost - unfortunately still doesn't look sharp to me :(

Myer, I am not sure what steps you are following in post processing, but maybe post just the RAW image or JPEG for that matter so we can see what it looked like in camera. The water is neat, but on your second post, something reappeared in the ULC of the photo?? What program are you using and are you using layers or adjusting your original photo? Thanks.
