Looks like he is trying to hid his face. I met him at JN "Ding" Darling Saturday. I used My Sony A700 with a Sigma 50-500mm on a tripod. Data=ISO 400, 500mm, 0.3ev, f/6.3, 1/1250.

Wow! What a pose! amazing detail, sharp, nice eye. Like black BG too. The whites in the wings may be just a bit bright. I would love to get a shot like that.

Very nice. The pose is very interesting, and it is great to still have good eye contact. What is the background here?

As Brendan mentioned the whites seem a little bright on the wing.

Thanks guys, the whites are brighter here than when I printed it, I don't know why. The background is mangrove trees very shady and using the lower aperature and zoom created the black background.

Awesome pose, John! Wow, is this ever striking! It reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera!

Yes, the whites do look a bit overexposed but you know...I think it almost works here. It really adds to the drama of the image IMO. I would probably tone them down a bit but I would be lying if I didn't say it is striking like this.

I like your comp - you might also try just a slice off the right side (where the wing joint is leaving the frame and a similar slice off the top. Your call though!

I just love the details on the head and on the neck. Great work!

Very, very nice. The composition is wonderful--makes me wonder what he/she is trying to find under that cloak! Captivating image.
