James, it seems your area is full of different species of raptors and ducks, and you just keep turning out winners all the time. Super landing posture, sharp, and I like the subtle colours. If this were mine, I would maybe remove the two outer vertical sticks on either side, protruding from the bottom.

Great picture! If it were mine I would also remove the sticks overlapping with the bird.

Incredibly beautiful bird and image; the soft colors and light and the detailed feather patterns blow me away.

I have never encountered a cooperative AMKE....

Hi Jim. I think the only way this Kestrel cooperated was to be anywhere near your camera. You really nailed it! :)

    Terrific image, Jim.

Same here for me - kestrels are always way far away, usually on a power line or utility pole.

I don't mind the small branches in the middle, but would take out the stray ones on each edge, as others have suggested.

Very cool. I have zero luck with this species.

What a lovely looking kestrel. Looks pretty different from what we see here in India. Very beautifully captured soft colours and gorgeous details. I agree with the cloning points mentioned.

    Hey Jim,

Fantastic shot of a beauty that has eluded me forever. Very unusual to get one straight on like that, wingspread and all. I'm glad to see you didn't retire after that kingbird shot.:) Keep 'em coming.

Spectacular Kestral image in nice soft light. Pose and wing spread, head-on view; details: all superb. All has been said.
