    Hi Folks;

    Captured this little male Costa's Hummingbird in our garden today.

    Comments welcome & always appreciated.

    Love that purple! And the pose captures the attitude of a hummer nicely. I might lighten the area around the eye a little, and I'd back off on the sharpening just a bit.

    I second Doug's suggestion. Especially about the area around the eye :)

    Doug nailed it for me, too. I really had to look for the eye on this one. Sharpening seems very aggressive - I think I'm seeing artifacts in the BG as well. Bring it down a notch and you'll be in great shape. So nice to see one sitting still for a change!!! :)

    Gus - don't you love these little guys? I do too. I like your composition very much, but also agree a tad less sharpening and a tiny bit of lightening of the eye are. I wonder if that will work though, because the dark colors are so tricky on these hummers. You are inspiring me to get out more and shoot these guys.

    Hi Gus, beautiful colors, pose, HA. Yes, I need more light around the eye, otherwise it starts to look like a narwhal. Or, a zinnia... Thanks, Ann
