    Default Pelican taking off under morning light

    I shot this in December at a bird sanctuary under early morning sunlight and some fog.
    Nikon D300 Nikkor 300mm f/4 D IF-ED AF-S + Nikkor TC-14E II AF-S Teleconverter
    1/640s F/8 ISO 400

    I don't know how logn you have been shooting and don't claim to be an expert, but here is my take: The exposure is good and you have some nice subjects in the frame. The take off is a great thing to shoot as well. The two things you might have done to improve the shot are to make sure you capture the main subject's eyes and to try to isolate it against a cleaner background and foreground. It takes a lot of practice a good deal of luck for everything to line up, but as I'm learning, it really makes the image that much stronger.
