This is one of those shots I visualized and it happened getting both birds sharp on the same focal plane. Everything worked with a lot of luck I was very happy with this believe me.:)

Dang James!!!.....I don't want anything I say to even remotely be considered negative because of what you have here.....but I would blend the lighter area a bit more above the top bird if it were mine. This is freakin' great!!!

I'm looking at it on my iPhone, but if it looks as good as I think it does, it's probably the best image I've seen from you! Outstanding!

    That's a fantastic image!

Well done, Jim. How long did you wait for your visualization to become reality?

Thanks! About 30 minutes I just started blasting shots as Kingbirds are very aggressive
with each other. I see them going after Raptors all the time.

    Luck?
Sure there was luck, and patience and skill. To get both birds in focus with that f-stop, you had to have positioned yourself perfectly!

Well I don't think I got the most out of the original post as when I downsized it for the web it didn't look as
sharp as I would of liked so here it is with more detail...... Thanks all for comments and suggestions much appreciated.

Not only is it a great capture, it's a wonderful job of knowing your subject and the behavior that can be expected. Great effort all around.

This is a kick butt picture. I would be surprised NOT to see this capture on at least one cover and it will win you some contests for sure. The colors are striking, the behavior and action riveting and IQ tops. Huge congrats for on this gem, James.

James, really cool. I'm sure you're very very proud of this one, and you definitely should be. In addition to the action, the light is really pleasing. I have to ask just because I'm curious -- what would a 2:3 version look like?

    Sure wish this were mine!

Wow!!! Simply spectacular. I feel bad for pointing out something, but feel it is my duty:p, so here we go...the eye on the lower bird bothers me a bit (because of the catchlight blocking most of the pupil) and I would do some eye doctor work on there.

Otherwise this is just jaw-dropping stuff. Even with alot of luck many people would have botched this opportunity but you did not...WAY TO GO!!!!!
