HI Richard, it's definitely a cool pose, and great how the girls are ignoring him so well. Have you purposely adjusted the levels to get the background so white? I would prefer it to be toned down quite a bit. For the ISO you needed I guess there was no sun, so I would expect you to have no serious prob with the whites. I was at a reservoir near Birmingham last week and was lucky to get 1/250th at ISO 3200 and f5.6 with the dingy conditions. I did get a very balanced exposure that way though. It was the first time I've managed to get a coot with the feet clearly visible (on ice) so I was pleased, but at ISO 3200 the black feathers are pretty noisy.
Very cool pose and title. I like your re-post better as I also thought the BG was to overpowering in the OP.
Doesn't look like the ladies are interested.
Peter
Hi Richard, I too much prefer your repost, much easier on the eye. Grey light on grey ice is rather dull grey of course, but at least it looks natural this way. I'm guessing you've also cropped a bit. For me you could leave it wider while still keeping the atmosphere of the photo, then the degradation due to the high ISO might be less visible.
Hey Geoff
OK have stood back some looks a lot better but a little inbalanced, no canvas avail to left unfortunately
OOC with NR and recovery in CR5, selective sharpening PS no adjustments to levels etc
thanks for comment
The noise is definitely less visible now, though you could probably put back a bit of the saturation as in your earlier post. If you want to have a go at extending the canvas left and down there is tuturial here which I found good:
