    Default Shoveler on Ice

As luck would have it the part of the pond closest to shore is frozen. So most of the ducks are in the water too far away to shoot. But this Shoveler decided to come up on the ice and preen no more than 30 ft. from where I was. And it didn't care that I was there. Hence the full frame image seen here.

Joe, nice light and sharpness. Good to see the legs and good job on the exposure...very hard not to blow them....I hardly see them out of the water here.

Thanks Denise. Haven't been out much what with the cold weather , snow and being sick. Feeling better now and finding the motivation to get out again. Felt good.

Great detail and the exposure on the beak really stands out for me!

Good detail Joe, and love their large beaks. Posed on the ice does add something different. Maybe a little tight bottom and right.
