    Default Fractalus Question

I am not sure this is the correct place to post this so please excuse me if it is not. I am intersted in purchasing the Fractalus download and I cannot find if it wokrs with Photoshop Elements or not, I have PSE 9 and am very comfortable with using Elements. Do you have to have one of CS versions to use this? Thanks for any help with this

Robert, I have it downloaded and working on Elements 7 and CS3, 4 AND 5. :)

The filters are 32-bit software. Photoshop CS4 64-bit is
not able to run 32-bit plug-ins. It can only run 64-bit plug-ins. The plug-ins need to be executed in the 32-bit version of Photoshop CS4 (:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe)

Most times when you install CS-4, only the 64-bit version is accessible. You will need to create a desktop shortcut so that you can open the 32-bit version of CS-4 when you wish to use Fractalius in CS-4.
To create a desktop shortcut for the 32-bit version of CS-4 click on Start/All Programs. Look for the folder that contains CS-4. Open it. You should see the 64-bit version and right below it, another version designated as follows: (x86). Right click on the (x86) version and select "Create Shortcut." This will create a shortcut on your desktop for the 32-bit version of CS-4. Move the newly created shortcut icon to a location on your desktop that you will remember. When you wish to open the 32-bit version of Photoshop (as when you want to use Fractalius), click on the new icon. When you want to open the 64-bit version, click on the original CS-4 icon. If you get confused you can try passing your cursor over each icon. One will indicate 64-bit, the other will include (x86); the latter will be the 32-bit version.

The filter is not compatible with MAC.

I am an affiliate for Fractalius and I would appreciate it if you would use this link
    when purchasing-thanks a ton!!

That is true, but since this is a PS plug-in, one needs to run the windows version of PS too.

Redfield is a Russian company, and at the rate they come up with upgrades and new products, like hardly ever, I doubt they are working on a Mac version. Works only on 32 bit versions of PS (and I'm sure other image editors), and only on 8 bit files. regards~Bill

Does that mean that folks need to purchase a separate license? If yes, then that is a bit much....

With all the stuff about MACs being so great I have done OK using PCs from the get go :)

Can you imagine what the situation would be had I been smart enough to switch to Nikon and MACs long ago???

In all seriousness, a friend of mine explained years ago that I should switch to MACs because they were more reliable, but every time I call her here MAC is in the shop for repairs. You gotta love it.

You all know that PC stand for Piece of Crap.

But few know that MAC stands for More Advanced Crap :)

Cool down Artie - no flaming. If your friend with a Mac .... I won't continue this discussion. :p

Anyway, if anyone finds a plug-in that is similar to Fractalus that will work with Mac PS let me (us) know.

Sorry Alan. You are right. Sometimes I cannot resist :)

MAC or PC, Canon or Nikon, it all makes no difference. Tell me what's in the heart and soul and yes, even the brain of the operator and I will know who is good and who is just playing....

The final image always speaks for itself.
