:)
Been out again today and luckily my little friends were still around!
This one looks like a Scottish Curling weight!
ISO 1250, (tried 1600 but no go for me)
SS 1/400 F 8, 100-400+1.4TC, Ev +1, tripod
NR in CR, SS in PS5

Nice one Richard. I prefer this one to the other post. It seems a more direct look and a bit more room. At least that is the feeling I have.
Bird seems out of level and may need a bit cw rotation.
I stand to be corrected but I think that for other than full stop ISO settings the camera makes an exposure adjustment to come to the nearest full stop ISO settings. Some believe it is best to make the full stop ISO setting yourself and then an exposure correction manually as needed.
I think there may be just a hint of colour coming through on top of head. Well done.

Good image and really nice face. The image appears a bit noisy to me, particularly in the background. Maybe you can tamp that down a little.
Very nice pose Richard.
From the histogram looks like you are almost a stop under exposed.
What a face! I wish the head turn gave us one full on view of his eye but at least we got most of one and part of the other. They are striking against that black head!
A few small things - I'd clean up/clone over the darker spots in the ULC and another one right at the water line in the BG. I also think removing the drops on his back might be in order since they are so pure white - but that's up to you.
I would look at brightening up the whites /exposure just a bit and maybe taking a small amount off the bottom so the amount of water below him is less than the horizon above him.
I love the cold, frosty mood of this image...it really makes me want a hot cup of tea!
Hi
hmmm can you explain your thoughts on this?
I have rechecked original image, posted image and re download from forum and post a screen shot here of the OOC image. No pure blacks or whites present so can you comment on the exposure as shown here. Before posting I used levels to replace the black and white points

OK
have reworked
cleaned up some of dirt in the ice
More NR on BG
Water spots taken of; recropped a little
added +.1 exposure, any more and gets way too bright on whites
And finally - went with increased exposure in CR5 TO +.65 as I was not totally happy with the image above
cloned out bit more dirt
oh and you can see I rotated CW from OOC
Thanks for input everyone:)
I like the pose very much. It would have been great if he had turn a tad more toward you, but his is still a great pose. Those Blacks & whites are so hard, but you did a great job.
