I have been photographing nature for over 6yrs now, pretty much self taught using the internet as a big ole guide, along with my Brother, we bounce thoughts off each other and that really helps. I have purchased books and worked my way to become somewhat of a benchmark for others, if you will. I helped many friends bring their photography to higher levels, it makes me feel good doing so. :) Most of the time my help is very much appreciated, and that is all you need to feel good about the time and effort spent :)
I find being out in the wild with nature is a form of relief, kind of like a pressure valve letting off steam.. it helps make you forget about the everyday world, the stress of your job, the economy, it puts you in the bird/animal world, living and feeling what they experience, sometimes it seems it might be a better way to live, then you watch a GBH gulp a fish down or a RTH grab a young muskrat to eat for lunch and then you think again LOL :p
I shoot with Canon gear, I started out with a rebel xt, moved to a 30d, then a Mark II, I had issues with my first Mark III (6 bodies later) I found a great one, Noelle now shoots with that camera. I currently have a Mark IV and the 500mm is my main nature lens, I love it because it is very hand holdable, I do 95% of my shooting this way.
Hope to see some of you out in the field, I have already met and shot with Randy, Gary, Artie, and Denise.
Happy Shooting,
Chad
