The low angle makes you feel like you're in the water with the bird. The splashes are great, especially the one caused by the wing. Exposure looks good. I think some additional sharpening would help. And I wish the bird was angled slightly more toward the viewer.

    Kaustubh:

Good comments from above, and I do agree with Doug about the flight angle and sharpening.

The shooting angle is excellent, and I like the spread primaries.

I know you will keep working it, and look forward to your next post.

    Cheers

    Randy

Very nice stop action image. Beautiful light, colors, detail. It may be my monitor but it looks like the whites might be blown out just a little on the body just below the wing.

Well timed Kaus. Any take off shot that you nail, always raises the heart rate:) I do like the low perspective, and how the near wing has touched the water. Good two tone BG. Well captured.

Very cool concept, and I love the pose. Whites look OK from here but you could slightly darken the brighter, but not blown, part that Brendan mentions just to even out the light. At least another three months before our ponds open up again!!

As mentioned Kaustubh a wonderfull low angle giving a unique takeoff perspective with the splashes and feet giving the image a wonderful sense of action. Also great exposure, sharpness and colours in this one.

I love the action stopping comp. You have described your settings excellently otherwise I would have been asking more, but I do wonder where in Irving (or Dallas) you go to do your water bird photography. Is there a single most productive location?

I salute you for undertaking this ambitious project. As usual for you, a good low angle, and your exposure is very good. I'm sure you'll keep perfecting the technique and get the wings in an even more attractive position.

Christopher, this one was taken in Carrollton near their public library. That is definitely a good spot.

I really really like this. My favorite of all the links you sent me and the others were cool as well.. The low angle running feet and splashing water are killer. thanks for the lesson
