Hi guys, I'm back from four days of shooting at the Salton Sea - one of my favorite places! I have some new images to play with and I'm starting with this one of a juvenile eared grebe. I was delighted to find flocks of these first-year birds and spent hours watching them. I captured this one in the last few minutes of sunlight.

Topaz filters used for this image - Denoise, In Focus, and Adjust. Brushed back in some detail on the face and water droplets.

P.S. - my first post and first image of the new year!

Hi Kerry, welcome back and what an excellent way to start the year with this composition! Great base image... love the low angle, the color saturation and the light. The canvas and the painting effect is outstanding. Great use of the filters. TFS.

Kerry, I love grebes! And this image you have created is outstanding. The water is beautiful and I love the DOF. So glad you kept those water drops - that is so "grebe".

I love grebes too and this one is beautifully done! Nice colors and composition and adding back some sharpness was a good touch.

I love this one! Does it need an ever slight rotation/ I like the head on stare and the painterly look with the canvas. Nicely done.:)

Love those Grebes!!! They give the best faces!!! You did a lovely job, Kerry. I giggled out loud when I first saw this one. The textures you chose really brings out a dimensional quality to the feathers. The dark blues make this sparkle!

Just love those staring eyes! The deep blue bkgd color and texture really add drama to the grebe.
