    Noelle:

Classic brown pelican pose, love the hair do.
The light angle was off to your right a bit, which gives him some nice modeling, rounds him out a bit.

I was surprised to see some noise in the background at this ISO. Perhaps it was a bit underexposed to protect the whites, and brought up enough in post to induce some noise?

    Cheers

Hi Noella, Beautiful pelican while I am a big fan of unconventional crops this one is not working for me as I feel the image is off balance with more space needed on the left. Because of the angle of the ground when looking at the image I keep thinking that pelican is going to fall out of the frame to the left.

    Wonderful colors and detail!

Agree about more space on the left and maybe a bit more at the bottom as well.

I have to agree with Don, the framing isn't working for me. I think perhaps its cropped too tight.

Very nice image Noelle. Great light, color, BG, sharp detail, eye contact, & nice close eye level shot. This one seems very happy and content! Looking forward to seeing more. (I need to work on shooting in softer light)

I like the pose and detail captured, and agree to adding more space on the left.

Thanks Randy, I agree about the noise. I did not change the exposure at all in processing. I did underexpose a tad to protect the whites as you say. Maybe the sizing and extra sharpening brought it out more.

I just had this one printed 15x30 and it looks great.

Thanks Don, I do have more space in the original image. I certainly do not want my pelican to fall :)
