This was the only nice part of the day. The sun tried to peek through, but those dark clouds eventually took over. My goal was to capture one of those photos I've seen with crashing beach waves calmed to swirls using slow shutter speed. The slow ss did smear the waves out. I think maybe a bit too much? This is a blend of two photos, both at f/22. The sky was shot at 6 seconds to keep as much orange color as I could, but everything else at 30 seconds to get some light on the rocks and structure and to smear out the waves. Finished it with DAP Benson.
Great capture. Living at the beach most of my life, 64 years I can read the waves and see the one coming up is building steam & will crash to the beach & rocks. As you say, you did smear out the crashing. However, I love the colors, and subtle light encompassing the complete photo. My type of scene! Well done.
Beautifully done Patti. I might clean up the edge on the right w/ the clone tool for that one piece of the pier. Colors and comp are lovely. The DAP Benson looks great.:)
Great image Patti! I like the texture, but mostly the composition; forground rocks leading to the pier, the house, the brigher horizon. Water surface quite interesting as well. The roof has a light blue outline (artifact?)that I would remove. Good job. regards~Bill
Thanks all.
Denise, I will clean up that edge of wood. Thanks for pointing that out. I never really noticed.
Bill, That light outline is where I didn't do a very good job of blending of the dark sky photo with the lighter photo. I think DAP accentuated it. I will try to fix it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Wonderful composition and colors. I like the details in the pier, the sharp line of the horizon, the rocks. The water may be too smooth for your original purpose, but it looks fine to me.
