    Default Sandgrouse landing

    Taken with D3s & 600 VR at 850mm. Shutter speed 1/1600 @ aperture F6.3 ISO 640.
I had to do some cloning to the BG, removed a OOF sandgrouse and remove some flair. I used lightroom to adjust levels and used a bit of highlight and shadows in PS. Wish everyone here a excellent 2011.

Nice to have 2 together coming at you. Really like the look in the eye of the top Sand Grouse. With the way the shore line is I am wondering if a little CCW is in order. TFS

Hi Vivaldo, well timed for the take off, and both with different flying postures. The lower sandgrouse does not look as sharp as the other. Have you tried a touch of selective sharpening on him, to see if it will work. They both pop nicely from the BG.

Hi Vivaldo, this image takes me right back to my prefered location - Kgalagadi. Great flight positions of my favourite BIF and good eye contact. Good points mentioned above.

    Where was this image taken?

Thanks Pieter and Chris :) Pieter these were taken in Nxai Pan - Botswana. I was so suprised to find them flying at the waterhole, it felt like I was in the Kgalagadi.... The Kgalagadi is also my favourite place

Nice incoming poses. Tachs look good as well as sharpness. Getting two in frame is a added bonus. Well done.
