Photographed this male Lesser Goldfinch in our garden this morning. Bit nippy for us, 28F, however, we have brilliant blue sunny skies which takes away a bit of the nip.

    Comments always welcome & appreciated.

    Happy New Year

    Hi Gus -

    Happy New Year to you!

The bird looks sharp with nice details. I wonder how it might look with a vertical crop. That would eliminate some of the busy background which detracts a little from this lovely bird.

The "Gush" signature cracks me up :D

    Gus,

Agree with Maureen on this. Vertical comp is a more suitable considering subject orientation.

Happy new year to you too.

    Hi Folks;

Thanks for looking and your suggestions. I agree with you 100% about the vertical crop, will put one up tomorrow unless someone beats me too it. :)

    Always appreciate your tips.

Gus, happy new year from Stockholm also.

Agree with the above comments about a vertical crop but I would also do a rather significant blurring of the background.

    Another good one Gus.

I like the nice focus and pose.

I also like the repost by Svante although a bit more clean up is required.

Also nice job on the yellows. Some look border line hot but I don't think they are over. It may be an idea to bring them down a bit.

Pretty lucky to have these fellows in your back yard. We'll see them again in April. Cold and clear here right now, about 20F.

    Dave
