From my visit yesterday to Viera Wetlands. I played around with a few different crops, but ended up liking this one the best.

What a beautiful and adorable Hawk. I like how he's looking right at you. I think this crop works well.

One of my favorite birds to photograph. They always look so cute.I also think this crop works. Maybe just a little more contrast.

    Maureen,

Exposure looks right on and very nice details.

This may be my personal opinion but still would like to share it. With a perch going straight through the middle of the frame divides the frames into two. Was there a possibility to move to the right or left and place the subject against the sky and avoid the tree trunk in the back.

    Thank you for the comments.

Sid, I appreciate your input and I agree the tree is less than wonderful. Unfortunately I have no shots of this bird without the tree in the background. There was just no place to go to frame this differently. Next time :)

    Maureen,
If we get every thing right in one day what would we do for rest of the life? I guess we need to leave something for tomorrow.:p

    good luck next time.

Very nice image of a charming bird. Sharpness and exposure looks perfect and agree that the tree might not be ideal but unfortunately birds isn't like photomodels :p.

Wo, I'm very smitten with this fellow! This is terrific. I love the colors, sharpness, crop, and definition. Exposure looks right on!!! I like the perch and the simple wave of feathers... TFS, Ann What do you think he was he was saying to ya?

Exceptional capture of the Red-Shouldered Hawk. Not often I see one around here, and you did a great job of capturing when you did. Everything will never be perfect all the time. IMHO, I think this one is perfect. You are improving every time you post.

    Well done, Maureen.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks Ann. I have no idea what this bird was thinking, but he seemed to know he had an audience!

Gus, you're such a good guy :) Thanks much for the encouragement.

beautiful hawk Maureen - I like the stump - he looks very casual, hanging out in the tree, just waiting to steal your mice... wonderful photo.

Very nice Maureen. Beautiful raptor, great eye contact, everythings been said. Now I know the name of the hawk that I can never seem to capture at the lake.
