Default Happy New Year and a resolution!

Happy New Year to all here at BPN! Another great year of great images, great info and great friendships!

In 2010, I participated in a bird photo challenge with a few other bird photographers here in California to see whom could photograph the highest number of species in CA, in 2010, a big bird photo year! The only rule was that the species be recognizable in the image. It sounded fun so I dove in! To make a long story short, I spent way too much $$, drove around 29K miles (brutal!!) and shot about 40K frames to come up with 386 species for the year, which may be the highest but the tallies aren't all in yet! Here's a link to the gallery - http://naturestoc.smugmug.com/Birds/...10973419_nnFku
Please keep in mind the one rule! Some of the images are very bad but work for the contest.

So, my new years (and all years to come!!) resolution is - NOT TO DO A BIG BIRD PHOTO YEAR OF ANY KIND EVER AGAIN!!!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Wow..Dan, very cool endevour. I would have loved to be part of that. My kind of thing. Dan, have a great New Year.....
Looked through your images..there's about 10 I sure would love to have for my quest..those M. Plovers, I am envious, seen em but never photographed them, The Woodpeckers...etc I could go on
Not quite sure if I'll be able to make it there this year but I am going back to southwest Arizona in May, we haven't decided yet on which way we'll go..California or Texas. If it's California, hopefully you can give me some advice on Leconte's, California Towhee, Tricolored BB, Surfbird, Tattlers and Lawrence's GF and a few other California birds I need to get an image of.

Dan, I started my quest in 2006, if I ever manage to finish it...lololol..like you I'll never start another

Thanks Paul! Please contact me if you are headed my way! After this year, I know a little about where/when the birds can be found here in CA!

Thanks for the nice comments guys! It appears that I have won this little contest with a total of 386 species! I may be able to add 1 more species, I shot what may be a Blue-headed Vireo in San Diego that is being debated as to ID at this time! So, maybe 387!
