These birds are quite hard to photograph when they have adequate cover to hide in but when they start their territorial song they can sometimes be approached easily enough.
This was the case with this one and no playback has been used.

    All comments welcome:) Paul

    Paul:

Good exposure, nice singing pose, catchlight.
Might have tried a smaller aperture for a little more DOF. You had some shutter speed/iso to play with.

I might consider cropping up from the bottom to just above the wider part of the plant, just personal taste.

Glad you have the sky. would be too monochromatic for my taste otherwise.

    Cheers

    Randy

Thanks Randy, agree about the DOF, would have been nice to have the tail in focus too.:D

I feel that with the majority of the BG being so smooth and creamy that that little bit of OOF foliage in the bottom right corner is a bit of a distraction. Well done catching the little blighter, Paul.

Paul, I like the sharp face with nice singing pose and the catch-light in the eye. As Randy pointed ,greater DOF to cover the tail would have made it even better.

Not a bird on my list yet! Good capture Paul, just shows how a bit of behavioural knowledge helps. And yes it is a little too high in the frame for my taste.

Hi Paul, great singing image with excellent exposure and fantastic background. Wonderful eye contact and detail. Also agree with previous comments about cropping from the bottom.

Paul, Beautiful gradient BG colors and nice warm light. I think Randy makes a good suggestion regarding the crop. I like the clear eye and I think it looks perfect :)
