    Default Waves...

I'm mostly a child of the RGB age, so does going back and experimenting with b/w for the first time in the last day of the year count as a new beginning for me? :)

You bet it does! Black and white is a great medium for showing off texture or an image that has strong visual lines and this one has both so great choice!

I like the wave patterns in the sand, Subhrashis, but wonder if having more surf at the top wouldn't help the comp just a bit. Do you have any other images with more? If so, you might play with that a bit and see what you think.

With this comp, I'd be tempted to cut the very top off where the partial wave is coming in and just leave the big wave.

Subhrasis, great choice for the weekly theme! I am with Julie on the composition in taking a slice of the top. I like the texture and would also suggest to increase the contrast. Because one can’t use color to distinguish one element of the image from another the tonal variances become all the more important, IMHO. TFS.

Hi Subhrashis, B&W was a good choice for this. I like how the lines in the sand lead your eye into the picture and back to the surf. I agree with Jules' and Indranil's excellent suggestions.

Subhrashis, Really neat image. I like the B&W look. I also agree w/ Jules-I'd be tempted to take that sliver off the top. Nicely done!!:) I like the way you interpreted the theme.

Hi Subbu, this is definitely a great interpretation of the theme! The previous posters have given some great suggestions....follow them and you'll easily take this one up a notch or 2. :)

Subhrashis, it looks like a wonderful beginning to me. I love the lines and textures and think b&w is a great choice.:)

Thanks a lot to everyone for the advice, suggestions and kind words!

I went back and increased the contrast a bit via curves, and cropped from above. Unfortunately, I don't have a version of the photo with the wave showing more.
