This image of a Least Tern chick has been sitting in my files since June when looking at the file other day I was struck by how the small the chick felt in the frame and how dangerous the world is for them at that age.

I really like this. Definitely get a sense that it is just a little player in the big game. Also a sense of isolation.

    Don:

Glad you went back to it! It conveys the isolation/vastness of the world for this little fellow well.

Both the beach and the sky strengthen that effect.

I could even see a version where you blurred the sharp sliver of beach that is in focus, just leave him on surrounded by the vast environment, alone on a visual island. Yikes, that is sounding pretty touchy/feely there:p

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Don , wonderful bit of imagery. Well conceived and well exposed to get the chick so clear against the white background. Certainly looks vulnerable in there. I also like the blue in the background.

Superb image - definitely conveys the feel of the title. Composition works wonderfully.
