I love your elephant portraits, they feel quite personal as if the elephant is interacting through the lens with us, the viewers. The square crop works well for this and the tufty grass around the elephant has a wonderful texture and tonal quality (attributes I value highly).

lovely colour, texture and depth here Peter...agree on with Sid that the square crop is not doing it for me...feels as if this ellie needs more space on LHS to walk into? :)

Hi Peter, like the detail and quality of colour on this one, but keep going back to the previous ones posted, with the ele's covered in dust. Like Sid, not a great lover of square crops, not sure how it was shot format wise, but either the more conventional vertical crop or if possible landscape with as Morkel said, more room on the LHS might work?

Peter - great detail and tonal quality to this image. The square crop doesn't bother me but would like to see a more traditional crop as suggested above. I really enjoy your elephant shots.

Square is OK with me. Sometimes that is all that works and I think this is a good case. What I would have liked is f you went lower and got the horizon line lower so it was not coincident with the tusks.

    thanks all for comments...

Robert, would have loved to have gotten lower just not possible , I do all my photography work on my own. So I was driving and shooting at same time , unfortunately the reserves rules do not allow for you to leave your vehicle or even open your door ...:)
To be honest I do not realise till after I have finished working on image if the crop is square or not.. its never intentional.. I just go with the crop that I feel suits my image..but I will re look and post with more space on RHS...

thanks again every body for all your comments...always appreciated
