    Default Village Weaver Display

Taken at a nesting colony of about 50 Village Weavers which was on the opposite river bank so I was able to get eye level images. They are polygamous colonial breeders building a number of nests and hoping to attract females with wing flapping noisy displays. If the female rejects the nest it is demolished and rebuilt. Nests take between 9-15 hours to build.

50D/EF500f4+1.4/f5.6@1/1600/iso400/EC+0.33 - tripod about 70% FF. NR on background.

    C&C most welcome.

A shot combining scientific and aesthetic interest. Particularly attractive are the clear red eye and the clay-yellow plumage.

Hi Pieter, well timed to capture this pose, as I know how fast these guys are. Comp works well, and I like the wingspread. The BG has turned out nicely too.

I like this capture Pieter! The behavior, eye contact, and nest tell the story nicely.
