One from a pod or herd of Walruses that came to investigate, then play along the shore whilst we were photographing the adult males. They were incredibly curious, venturing out of the water on occasions, lunging forth, but keeping their distance. They stayed for about an hour until we departed in the two zodiacs.

Converted to B/W as the light was not great, but I think this has more 'atmosphere'. This one was a juvenile, as the tusks haven't really formed and their size was about half of a fully grown male.

Good DOF Steve and I agree on the converting to B&W.

Depending upon how you feel about the bright BG water, you can use the highlight sliders in Shadows/Highlights in PS to reduce them.

Steve - great detail and I really like this as a b&w conversion. It's also a strong comp and the head tilt just adds to its strength. Where was this taken?

Hi Robert, yes I did think about that, I want to try someone's workflow on that particular subject in fact. :D

Hi Rachel, sorry meant to say Svalbard, where the polar Bear images came from that I have posted previous. BTW how are you doing with your Santa gifts?

Very nice image Steve. b&W conversion worked pretty well. Looks like he got some attitude.

Love the b/w conversion. The tight comp works well here also. Good and sharp. These guys always look so sad. Well done.

Another wonderful animal portrait Steve, mournful but beautiful all at the same time. Those whiskers are fantastic and would lend themselves for some abstracts I would think. Like the B&W conversion.

nice tonal range and textures here Steve - good choice in going for monochrome!
love the expression and these guys have a "cute" factor despite their size...

if this isn't full frame, I am wondering if a slight CCW rotation would improve this?

Excellent detail Steve. I love the radial lines of the whiskers and how the beads of water are hanging off the tips. I'd also like a little CCW rotation if its available.
