    Hi,
Took this one today out on the river estuary.

    Stats: Canon 50D, 500mm F/4 + 1.4X, ISO 800, 1/800sec at F/6.3
Some smoothing done with Topaz Denoise. Minor touch up with Viveza

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve

Excellent in-flight and I love the deer in the headlights stare. Love the smooth bg and the wing down position.

Love the head turn and BG. How large of a crop was this?

Very nice wing detail Steve. Looks good against the unfussy background, especially with the angled light.

Wow! Nice background, soft light and eye contact. What River and city?

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments. This shot was taken at Nanaimo River Estuary here on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. The shot is at about half frame. Had them coming very close yesterday with 4 birds in the air at the same time in some instances. The high tide drove them further inland to hunt so they more easily accessable.

Compelling image, Steve, as good as I see in any wildlife magazine. I would have loved to have been there with you on that wonderful day.

Great BG and fantastic flight pose and eye contact!

Maybe a bit less room at the top and left.

Loved the light filtering through the wing. Very interesting pose as you dont expect this kind of HA with this bird angle...unique...loved it.

Very nice capture. If it were mine I would take a tiny bit off the top and lighten the darkest areas with shadow/highlights (or it least give it a try to see what it would look like.)

A beauty, Steve. The lovely background, sideways stare and down-wing position combine to make this a stunning shot. I got my first Short-ear shots last night, and I only wish they were half as sweet as this.

Got to love that one! Everything has been said, just wish more of the other wing showed.
