Hi Sid, another beautiful image from you, the light on the horns, the frosted outlines on the face, and the soft nature of the BG colours, also liked the waves of snow...superb. On my uncalibrated monitor the patch of snow just to the bisons front left foot looks a tiny bit bright....
    cheers

Hi Sid, for me this is one perfect image to end the year on.

It has all the qualities/hallmarks of a cracking image and one animal I would love to photograph in these condition, or even, if possible, in the classic blizzard.

    Doesn't get any finer IMHO.

Sid - well captured though I agree with Grant that the one area looks a little hot. It makes me cold just looking at this shot.

Just love the snowy face with the beady eye shining through. Super light. I really enjoy this photo Sid.

    Sid,

You've gone the extra step with the iconic "frosty bison" shot. The light really helped out to make a wonderful image. Most of the snow looks sugary and well exposed. Great one, my friend.

    Thank you all.

This year I was very keen on getting the snow right. I did not want my images look like subject stuck on white paper.

Constantly metering the snow and adding compensation based on histogram. Worked out pretty well and I am happy with that.

    Grant,

I should tone it down or clone with a patch of snow from other area to get little more details in that.

    Thanks

Great capture Sid—very well exposed & sharp. Is this from your recent trip to YNP? How was the trip?

Nicely done Sid. Looks like you had some snow to work with this year, the last two winters have been pretty dismal (early Feb). You did well with the exposure and is good and sharp. Hope to see more from the trip.

I love these snowy animal images and this one is just beautiful. As I swelter here in Australia with temps heading over 40C (well over 100F), this just makes me feel so good.

Sid, I thought you told me nothing special when I asked how your trip went, it would appear you now have new definition of special :)

Ideally I wish his left eye was more visible and the little patch of snow has been mentioned. Seems to be a little lack of detail in his fur lower left leg. I love the pose, light, colors of his coat and horns.
