My favorite place in all of Florida to shoot is Ft Desoto in April and my favorite subject are the Reddish Egrets in breeding colors. I cropped this one a little differently but i like the flow of the image.

Beautiful bird, lovely setting. I can see why these birds are so popular to photograph and I never get tired of seeing them. I think "fixing" that single dark patch top right of frame might help.
The bird itself looks great. Nice light and excellent feather definition. The crop feels a bit funny to me. I like the space you given the bird but feel the position in that space is a bit odd. Perhaps moving the bird a little to the left would work in my opinion. Just my thoughts:D

Awesome bird, image, colors, BG, and detail! Like how you framed it, and low angle too.

Nice one Don!!! Love it!! well done!!! Low angle, and BKG does it for me! Like the head separation form the bkg color band!

Lovely shot. I would give the bird some more room behind it - it would help complete the gentleness and serenity of the ripples.

    Cheers.

Great composition Don. Love that wide view. I would not alter it.

Hi Don I too like the composition which together with the ripples in the water set the Egret in its environment. Sharp image with good detail.

Terrific colors and I also like the composition, the depth of field on the water is just perfect.

The one downside for me (and I am in Florida) is that these are such active birds in practice, this one looks slightly wrong being so sedate.
