    Default Repair of Film Scanner

My Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 film scanner (medium format) jammed and Local repair would not fix and advised me to send back to Nikon for repair, which I did. Nikon has returned it to me not repaired as they do not have a needed part. I need the scanner for large collection of slides and panoramics. Help.
    Many thanks.

Are you in the US? This is not very usual of Nikon not to have parts.

    Hi:
I will ask my local Nikon Dealer if he has any suggestions.
    How old is your scanner?

Check out the usual used places for people selling the scanners for parts. Maybe you could send Nikon both and they could use the parts they need from an extra device?

You might also look into the Epson flatbeds for scanning them. They really do a remarkable job on transparencies compared to what they used to and I stopped using the filmscanner because of it. The V750 or the V500 are good but I'm not familiar with the others.
