This unique member of the Shag/Cormorant family is found in the most southern of New Zealand's three main islands. D80, 135mm, 1/1000 @ f/5, ISO 200 Was photographing nest building activity when this one passed by.
Brian, very nice focus and contrast. Only distraction is the back groud, would have preferred a bit more blurred.
Any how, great flight shot.
Congrats,
The uniqueness of the Shag is way cool for me, very interesting! Image looks very sharp. The wing position is great also.
The lighting is very harsh but you did a good job of not blowing any major areas and not losing the blacks either.
The biggest negative for me is that the bird is flying away and the harsh light.
For images like this with the aqua colored sky I reduce the sat or the cyan and add some cool colors to the image to make the blue more gray and less green.
The foreground doesnt bother me much but if it does you can do a simple mask and blur it.
Thanks, I am appreciating the comments. This is one of those times when it appeared around a bluff and I had about 1 second for adjustments. I'm still a Photoshop novice but getting there bit by bit so any suggestions are welcome.
:cool:Hi Brian.
I like your flight shot, you did well in not blowing out the white on the head. It would have been nice if the backgound would have been a wee bit blured... But heck Its a very nice shot...:D
