Another one from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. We spent a wonderful morning with this young male cheetah and his mom and brother as they chilled in the winter morning sun. You know how I love the wider perspective :).

Merry Christmas everyone! Enjoy the family-time...

    Morkel:

I suspect the placement of the cats eyes right at the ROT point isn't pure chance?:)

THe sky is lovely, but I could also see a modest crop from the top to keep our eyes on the right plane with the cat. I kept running out the top of the image because of the neat sky.

    Cheers

    thanks Randy...

now, now...I would never do that on PURPOSE, that's pure instinct ;) :D

I hear what you're saying re the sky - and I think I'll give it a bash since I am quite interested in the 6x17 panoramic format these days...

how does this feel to you?? the above image was full frame which makes cropping easy...

I like the new crop. The solves the problem Randy mentioned. Though I do like the sky. Too bad you did not have an elephant there for a large FG center of interest.:p

Nicely done Morkel. I like the pano crop better also for stated reasons. Sky is awesome, just too much of it. Well seen.

Another nice one with a broad vista and beautiful sky, all anchored of course by a beast. Nice work Morkel and I love the repost.

Morkel - I like the repost. It makes it more about the cheetah surveying his territory and less about the sky. Well captured.

Very nice Morkel, the sky is great, and the image has a great feel to it due to the height of the ridge that the cheetah was walking on.. Prefer the repost .
    cheers

Both crops work for me Mork, and If I went with your repost, I would maybe have added a touch more to the bottom.

    Morkel:

For me, the repost tells a story more about the cheetah and its domain, rather than a beautiful sky with a cheetah stuck in. I do agree with Stuart, a bit more below.

    Cheers

Yes, very nice image and with crop you still feel a lot of breathing space and eye goes right to cheetah. Shows a wide shot can show his majesty just as much as close-up.

Very nice indeed Morkel, subject, sky and comp, first class.

Another stunner mate. The clouds makes this extra special. Not sure why but I like the original more.
