Same small duck pond as last image, and same duck. The duck was swimming from shadows under a platform at one end of the pond. Probably haven't yet worked out the yellow cast problem mentioned with my last post. The idea that the light colored sand and pond bank contributed to the color cast in the last image is tested here, since it made no contribution with this image. It could be a question of white balance setting, and in any case could easily fixed in ACR if needed. I'm not real sure about the dark background either, though I like it. comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill
Bill- This bird jumps off the page. The image is outstandingly sharp where it needs to be. Love the reflection, the spotlight effect on the face, and the way the bird's rear-end fades away. Also really like the water and dark BG. The only thing I would do for a wall-hanging is to remove the little white speck on the wing, and in the BG just above the left primary.
Bill - a truly fabulous image. I can't get over the beautiful drop in DOF here - so nice! If I had to be picky and find one thing I would change I might try to bring up the details in the one feather right in front of the tail feathers that is sticking up a bit - I wouldn't mind seeing a little more detail there as it trails off to the tail.
Love the greens in the water against the browns and yellows of the bird. Perfect!
Man, that is gorgeous! I checked out your website, and the quality of all your shots is so good.
For Female Wood Duck II, what were the main adjustments, if any, you made to the image with CS5? How did you apply sharpening for this image in general and for online display?
Thanks everybody! I'm glad you like it. After reading the comments I'm starting to like it too. I was initially only considering the technical aspects, and its good to see how other people viewed it! regards~Bill
