I'm still on the fence with this one. I processed it a few weeks back...and I keep coming back to it - sometimes I really love it, sometimes I merely like it, and sometimes it doesn't move at all. I kinda like that it has that effect though as I've probably viewed it more times than most of my other images just to see what it stirs up inside me (or if it does at all!!) I do at all times like the sharp edge of breasts/necks/lower bills. Anyhow, here are the techs:

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, shutter priority, evaluative metering, 1/15s., f/22, ISO 800, +1.7 EC, slight crop for comp. I left the bluish cast on purpose to add to the "artsy" feel of the image...

Hi Daniel, I love the placement of the birds in the comp. Bluish cast helps define the birds from the background I think. I wonder if the background needs to be toned down a touch. I think it is a keeper. Looks like a little bit of noise on the upper-most bird's darker markings.

    Andrew,

The comp is super..........I like the white BG, is there any way to darken or enhance the light areas of the birds..that might help show even more of the blur and balance with the shadow areas............

Dan I get feelings about images all the time, I like the concept, composition and high key look, don't give up on it.
If it were mine I'd probably take it further and try to add a head, easier said than done, trying to make it look like they fit. I don't mean the whole head, just try and duplicate the high key head that shows the bill a bit more.
Hope you know what I'm trying to explain :o.

Daniel, I'm on the fence about this one too. The composition is very good and I like the high-key effect, but I think I'd prefer a little more definition in the heads and necks so that they don't blend so much with the BG.

Daniel, The composition and even the amount of blur appeals to me. I am not crazy about the bit of blue and BG stuff at the top. I have always liked high key and blurs and the combo is nice.:)

Daniel, my first impression is that I like this a lot. The only thing I would change would be to lose the blue cast. I don't think it adds artistic value and would love to see this with the blue neutralized, but that is just my take at the moment.
