    Default Black-crowned Night Heron

    Taken at Bolsa Chica Wetlands on a very windy Sunday. Usually only see these one at a time, but today there were six of them hanging out together.

    Nikon D70, 70-300 VR-II @ 300mm, 1/800 sec, f/8, Auto WB, ISO 200.

    Nice image. Great wing position. You could try a crop just above foreground birds to eliminate any competition that they create. I do like it as presented with the crop you have two different feels to the image.

    I agree with Todd on the first two counts. I do think it would benefit from cropping out the birds on the bottom and tightening up the right and left sides a little bit.

    Todd and Susan,

    My original thought was if I cropped out the FG birds it wouldn't be as interesting, but I now think your suggestion is a very good one, thank you. Cropping is always a difficult decision for me, I'm trying to learn to think and see differently.
