Not anywhere near as good of light to work with as Steve had but I pushed the iso up and gave it a go. Oh how I wish for a D3s.

Looks like he was just a tad to quick for you on this one Todd. Focus seems to have hit the fur on the back rather than the face. I do like the position of his claws and how the water in front is smoother than that behind him. Those two things give the impression of him lunging through the water.

The wet fur and busy paws on this guy have come up well Todd, just wishing for a lower angle, taken from a bridge?

Judging by the good low ISO reviews of the D7000, the new D400 (whenever it will be released) sounds like it will be an excellent low ISO DX format alternative.:)

Hi Todd, rest assured we had mixed weather in Alaska from cold, great wet days to sunny ones, so I can sympathise with you about the light conditions. I think you have done well considering the conditions and have made the most of things. You do get the sense that the bear is just about to lunge/strike as steve says, with the posture and raise paws. Would also agree that the focus is slightly behind rather than on the forehead or eye, but guess your mind was on other things here Todd. :) I assume it is OOF grass that is that greenish/yellow blur in the rh corner? Can't get enough of these guys, keep them coming.

Todd - agree with the others on the focus. Nice action and pose. Where in Alaska was this taken? I'm guessing you might have been on the platform at Brooks Falls hence the POV from above.

Nice image considering the conditions. Like the splash and the position of the paws.
