    Default Crane into the sunrise

I closed my eyes as I took this photo so I would not see the brilliant sun through the camera . I had to guess about when to press the shutter and hope the crane would be in the photo. I had just one chance and the bird was gone.

I used a strong curves adjustment and then Topaz DeNoise. I would have liked the crane to be a bit closer to the sun for a tighter composition. Maybe adding canvas to the left would improve the composition?

Nancy, I might be tempted to move the crane into the frame more. Do you have live-view? If so this would be a great time to use it. I love the gradient color and I would not have been able to get the crane in the image like you did-so great job!!!:)

Fabulous! I also would move the crane in. I'd select and duplicate him, move him over, then clone over the original.

Super gradient here and that sun is the bomb! Beautiful and vibrant image!

Very neat idea, Nancy. I agree on moving the crane in more and maybe a little higher up so that it's closer to the ROT position. Lovely colors! :)

Hi Nancy, I really like this and tried a very simple addition of canvas on the left. To my eye, this makes for a nice pano crop and better placement of the crane without all the work of actually moving a selection around. Great job getting the capture!

Nancy, nice work. I like Kerry's pano post. Also agree with moving the crane in a little.

That's a very unique image, almost like a graphic! I love the colors and I really like Kerry's re-do better than the idea of moving the bird because I like the orange color where it is.

Nancy, the colors on this look awesome and you've captured a really nice gradient, too. After playing with this shot for a couple of minutes, I think that moving the bird to the right is the thing to do. I used CS3's patch tool just to get an idea of how it would look and it did a surprisingly good job of moving the bird and removing the original.

Thank you everyone. I tried to move the crane in and lost some of the color gradient when I cloned over the original. Maybe I was not precise enough. I think Kerry's repost has it the best. Thanks! And I think Live View is a brilliant idea. Now I just have to remember it when in the field :).
