Default Hoodie Enjoys the Sweet Light

This image is one taken the day that Artie's Bosque IPT headed up to the zoo. I spent some time with Artie, Denise, and Peter Kes. The Hoodie prefers the shade, but when he ventures out into sunlit patches of water, have your camera ready!

    Doug:

Really good job maintaining some texture/detail in whites. Did you have to do anything special in post on the whites?

Sharp, nice that he put his hood up for you.

I might consider a minor crop from below.

    Cheers

    Randy

I'll have a look at the RAW file when I get home this afternoon Randy, but I don't recall having to do much.

    Doug,

This image takes other photographers to school regarding merganser images. Sweet.

Here's a 100% crop of the unprocessed RAW file. Pretty good detail throughout. In Lightroom I moved the Black slider down to 1 and the Recovery slider to 8. I also used the exposure brush to bring the whitest whites down 0.25 stops and the blackest blacks up by about the same amount.

For the sake of completeness, here's the final version of the image. I brought up the shadows a little more than I did in Lightroom.

    Thanks Doug:

Appreciate seeing your post work on this one. Nice job of tweaking an already good raw file.

    Cheers
