Here is an image from the new Tamron SP 70-300/4-5.6 Di VC USD

Unfortunately I've been unable to be afield much lately. I took a few minutes this morning to try out my new Tamron 70-300mm.

The VC stabilization appears to be better than the stabilization on the Nikon 70-300 VR by at least a full stop. The USD focus is sweet. The AF ring is bigger and much more practical than on Nikon's 70-300 VR.

And this is a sharp little lens.

1/640 @ F13 (I was so close F13 was as wide an aperture as I could use and still get Gull's bill close to in focus)

It looks like this could be a new lens suggestion for those on a smaller budget....
it might be a good second lens for somebody with a Canon 400mm 5.6L

Nice. What's your keeper rate? I'm wondering if this might be a good, cheap, lighter alternative to the Canon L series 70-200s and 70-300. How does it perform wide open?
