    Default Avatar size problem

Hi. I tried to create a custom avatar from a favorite picture, cropped to 90x90 pixels, and the jpeg file kept coming out way too big (~32K even at low quality settings). Finally I created an "image" (in PSCS2) that's nothing but an 80x80 pixel square of solid white, saved it as a jpeg with the quality set to 0, and it's still 19K! What am I missing?

    Hi Chris,

Move the quality slider until you reach your goal in the Save for Web option. CS2 is pretty good for that.

    Fabs,
Thanks! That did it. I can only guess that "Save As..." includes a lot of metadata in the file, which "Save for web..." leaves out.
