I am lucky to have a small herd of Mule Deer in my mountain neighborhood. Sometimes they check out my birdfeeders. I have discovered they love millet and a few have even learned how to curl their tongue to suck sunflower seeds from the feeders :). This young buck was only a few feet from my open window and did not seem to mind my camera in his face.

    Canon 7d, Canon 70-200 f2,8 IS L @ 145mm.
    ISO 400, f4.5, 1/640, exp. comp. +1/3.

    C & C very welcome.

Very nice deer portrait. The background has a lovely tone to it which complements the deer. Very gentle on the eye. If they are so tame it would be worthwhile experimenting with getting a lower pov.

Nice to have them come so close. Nice clean bg. Good pose and sharpness.

A nice portrait Nancy and as Hilary said, if they get use to you, then using a lower POV or even a wide angle with a remote if possible would give some excellent results.

Would suggest easing off on the blacks, if you try Shadow/highlight & Curves with a mask, you can ease the eyes, but more importantly bring out some good detail in the nose.

Good luck and looking forward to more.

Great eye contact and I really like the warm color. Great detail as well.
