Brigantine, last month. As the tide ebbed in the late afternoon, this guy and his mate were left with just a narrow channel in which to swim back and forth through the mud flats. Minor rotation and levels adjustments, minor mudflat cleaning. C&C appreciated.

The light makes this one so good, Bill. Wonderfully sharp as well. Pintails are very hard to get close to here.

Bill, up here in Canada we seldom see these lovely ducks up this close, details sharp, lovely color, exposure right on...not crazy about the background, wish it was all like the lower half but thats just me....I would have this in my library in a heartbeat...

    Hi Bill,

Your image reminds me that pintails are one of our most beautiful waterfowl. The milk chocolate head is gorgeous. This shot would be even better with a little lower angle and more continuous water pattern but still I beautiful example of the species.

It is very hard to get shots of them. I tried many times at Bosque. Nice details, just wish the line was not that obvious.

Thank you all for the comments. Danny, I agree on both counts. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get lower. I thought about eliminating the rear mudflats, per the repost. But couldn't do anything about the foreground, which looks really odd if you don't see it in the context of the narrow channel through the mud. I suppose I could go further, and mirror and distort the reflected head; but that seemed to go beyond my comfort level.:)
